What is the best way to find a sponsor to buy you into the WSOP that takes a split of what you win?

My husband is a talented Texas Holdem’ Tournament player. He has been playing for 2 years often is at the final table of most local events. He got 4th place in a tournament to win a ticket just last month. I believe that if he got sponsored into the WSOP Tourney, he would able to make a cash payout at this big dance of poker. I believe that he has developed a game plan, the mathmatical skills, focus patience to, as usual, make it to the final table win it all.
The problem is going about finding a sponsor that will take the risk of investing the $1500 for the earlier tournaments (3 of them) /or $10,000 for the Main Event for a cut of the winning cash prize, should one be earned. I have full confidence that my husband would earn a cash prize. I believe that if he had a chance to go to the tournament he would be able to dramatically change our lifestyle lives.
Does anyone know a person who is looking to invest like this or how to go about finding one? Thanks

If your husband is as good as you say, The best chance for getting in the wsop is sats on the internet. its usually very hard to find a sponser aside from your friends or family.

If he’s been winning for the past 2 years, where has those winnings gone? What he should do is begin a poker bankroll- money that is used strictly to fund his poker. If he is as successful as you claim, why doesn’t he have a few grand to invest in himself to play in the $1500 tournaments? Or failing that, almost every online site has super satellites to the Main Event. He can get in those for as little as $3.30. Friends and family are another option.

Really, the best way to do this is for him to play in places or tournaments that he is more likely to get noticed. However, be careful when taking on a sponsor – they’re not doing it to help you out. They expect to make money. Think of them the way you would a loan shark.

If he wants a sponsor, he needs to break out of the local scene and get into bigger events at bigger casinos. If he is as good as you say he may get some attention from people with larger bankrolls, but few will be willing to invest on someone they don’t know.
The better chance would be to go and play in a sattelite to get into any of the events. For a $1500 event the stattelite maybe only 150 if it is a ten seated event.

any player that is somewhat good locally should have enough winnings to buy into a $1500 event. Now if you are 100% confident he will cash then you are dreaming a little. This year he would have to go through over 5000 players before he even smells a little money. And I hate to break it to you but every player, even the best in the world, lose every now and then.

I’m sorry to say that no one on this site is just going to hand over 1500 dollars and trust you. You are better off trying to win your seat on-line, they have tons of satellites that can be very cheap to enter. Also you can try playing a satellite at the world series, they are going to have super satellites for 540 dollars this year, so its not that much to pay for a shot at a 10k seat. You can also put up 1050 dollars and play one table, and the winner of the table gets the seat, if your husband is as good as he said he is, then this should be easy for him. I would also go to a couple of circuit events, the by-ins range from 200-10,000 dollars, but most sub events range around 300-500 and first place can pay out over 40-50k. good luck.

if there are local tournaments there are cash games nearby…just start playing $5/$10 and above. or the same levels online. at these levels he is up against better players if he is good he can make enough cash in a week. if not you just found out how good a player he really is.
