why would poker pros support these online poker websites besides money? Its beyond obvious they are rigged?

Sunday, March 15th, 2009

How many times do you go all in with 4-5 people all having great hands or great chasing hands only for the worst hand to win 9 of 10 times. I have gone all in with the best hand and lost 85 percent of the time more then I can fathom. The only time you do when is when you are behind and get lucky. I’m not venting but I would never endorse this scam sites regardless of the money they paid. Its been proven time and time again this sites are not legit. I just want to open a discussion with people who care about poker. I make money online but its not much. Thanks

basic online poker question about 21 please help?

Wednesday, March 11th, 2009

okay so im new to online poker and had a question about 21.

Say I deposite $25 dollars into my account, does that mean that I have $25 to play with on 21? So if I make a $10 bet and I win $20 does that mean that my balance then becomes $45 just like that? And if so, can I withdraw that money? Please help me, any advice on how to actually win money on 21 would be awesome. Thank you so much.

Recurring poker dream?

Wednesday, March 11th, 2009

Several times this year I’ve dreamed I won a lot of money playing poker. In the dreams I’m playing with family or friends and sometimes in a tournament. I walk away with bags overflowing with cash or coins. In real life I don’t play poker or even gamble. What is this dream trying to tell me?
Thanks,
Tampico

I play poker online – need some advice?

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

Recently I’ve been playing online poker and making some decent money.

But I realized it’s having side-effects on me. I put in 20-30 hours a week and make like ~$2000. But it’s really nerve racking to play. I’m holding my breath when my moneys on the line, basically the whole time. My eyes are focused the entire time because I play many tables and never really have a second to rest. It’s decision after decision so I don’t have time to rest my eyes. Also I get the ultimate highs and lows after playing. After a few months of this, it’s starting to really change who I am even when I don’t play poker.

What do yall think?

PROS: I can make $100,000+ a year and eventually more.
CONS: ITS RUINING MY LIFE

Is there any way to relax…….. my brain gets so stimulated after I just have to do 10 things at once or I get bored.
quit cold turkey? damn i thought about that but that’s a lot of money Im giving up. I’ve already made 100K and am still doing well. You think there’s another way to find balance?
Shaman: So what are u saying? Quit completely? I’ve already limited myself to 2-3 hours a day and I can’t help myself winning the amount that I do. As for contributions to the world, the more $ i make hte more i can contribute, just as long as I’m not being affected by it.

Online Poker Basics

Monday, March 9th, 2009
Poker played over the Internet is referred to as online poker. Its popularity has experienced such a tremendous growth that revenues from online poker are said to have reached $ 200 million a month in recent years.

Online poker tables typically spread Omaha, Texas hold’em, Seven Card Stud, and so forth. Games can be played in tournament structure or as ring games. A poker tournament is typically played with chips which are worthless if used outside the tournament, whereas “real” money is used in ring games played at online poker. Ring games and tournament games also differ in that throughout the tournament players have to stick to one predetermined style of poker, as opposed to ring games, where the types of card games available may vary.

The online poker game is recommended for beginners only as far as the ring games are concerned. Tournaments are for more experienced players, and they don’t offer the possibility of cashing out at any time, as it is with ring games. Cashing out in tournaments is only possible after the player has won or lost all the chips. Moreover, most online poker rooms charge a tournament entry fee. In fact, this is one of the three major ways in which online poker rooms profit. The other two are represented by the rake and by playing against the house for real money, when the profit comes from the fact that the odds are clearly in favor of the house. When it comes to money, players may be referred to in terms of play money players and real money players. The former are generally uninitiated in online poker and it is highly recommended that they sign up as beginners in order to get some idea about the online poker game.

As far as playing for real money goes, players must understand one very important aspect, which is that online poker deprives them of a notable advantage that they would normally have when playing poker traditionally. As you might have guessed, this advantage is represented by the physical reactions of opponents which offer valuable clues in a real-world poker game. In the absence of such indicators, online poker players have to concentrate on the betting patterns of their opponents or on their reaction time, in order to try and figure out their next moves. Even so, it takes time before a pattern can be established. What’s for sure is that online poker players must be able to adapt easily to the new surroundings that poker rooms bring about if they want to be successful.

The lack of clues, which players normally have in traditional poker, rules out the possibility of spotting bluffs almost entirely. Not even experienced online poker players can tell when someone is bluffing, which is why you should be careful when trying to spot your opponent’s bluffs.

There is good news for the less experienced online poker players. There are many web sites out there where you will find all the information you need about poker rules, poker rooms, useful tips and strategies, in other words all you need to know about the online poker game in theory, before you learn it through practice.

Superstars of poker, do they make more money in poker or endorsements?

Saturday, March 7th, 2009

Question, do you think high profile poker players are generating more money playing poker or through endorsement deals, tv shows, books, etc etc

examples, Phil Hellmuth whoring himself body and soul to UB or even the Grand Daddy of poker signing his name away to DoylesRoom ??

(Note, Phil Hellmuth is actually a successful tournament player with more wsop braclets and I do respect him as a player… but others like Daniel Negrenau hasn’t won a major tournament in quite a while but has continued to pump his public profile)
_________________________________

Not trying to attack any superstar’s level of skill. They obviously require talent to gain the platform to endorse. This wouldn’t be an interesting question in any other sport except in poker where the game is played with money for money. And its elite should be making excessive amounts already.

Why do I fall asleep after playing Hold’em Poker online?

Hand not paid as it should have been on a major online poker site. What to do?

Wednesday, March 4th, 2009

Was playing in a tournament at one of the biggest online poker sites and didn’t get paid as I should have done. I won the hand yet the pot was split. I was playing real money. The tounament was a 20 seater and cost $9 to enter. Anyone else had this happen to them or an idea of what I should expect back from the poker site in compensation?
Please note this has been checked by numerous people and the mistake is 100%. I had to replay the hand 3 times myself and show it to 2 other poker players to believe it myself. It is presently being investigated by the poker site. Just not sure what to expect from them?
The flop was AD, 9D, 4C, 4S, 9S. I had A5 he had A2. As you can see no flush or straight draw was out. We both had two pairs Aces and 9’s but the highest kicker (5th card) was my 5.

My husband is addicted to poker? PLEASE READ?

Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009

I am a 22 year old stay at home mother of two beautiful babies. My husband works 50+hours a week. We just recently got the internet and he loves to play poker, which i do not have a problem with. In the past week, he has been in several different tournaments, and may i add this is only play money. I will stay up until three in the morning sometimes, because I know its the only way we will be able to spend time together, me watching him play. I told him earlier this morning there was a tournament going on, he said he was not in the mood so just a minute ago he was going to enter into one and well, he did, and I was sitting at the computer, until time for him to play, I looked down at the clock and realized that it was almost two and he had to be into work at five o clock. Meaning the tourney would last two hours and then he would have thirty minutes to get ready for work, and no time with the kids, now this may have been wrong of me, but I went all in on purpose and so we could all
he got mad and slammed a cabinet door. And said you never give me a chance. I have sacrificed every night for the past week to let him play. Anywayz, we usually have sex once every two weeks if I am lucky, I love having sex with my husband and want it everyday. I am usually the one that pursues. Anyway, he called me to bed the other night and said guess what, playing in that tourney has got me all juiced up That made me feel like poker was the turn on instead of me.
I asked him today, if he had a choice of being in a poker tournament or having sex with me, which would he choose, he said Well would the tournament be for alot of money What am I supposed to do! I desperately need guidance on this! I love him so much and try to encourage him I even hooked him up with a pro poker player who is very well known in the poker community! PLEASE HELP!
