My husband is a talented Texas Holdem’ Tournament player. He has been playing for 2 years often is at the final table of most local events. He got 4th place in a tournament to win a ticket just last month. I believe that if he got sponsored into the WSOP Tourney, he would able to make a cash payout at this big dance of poker. I believe that he has developed a game plan, the mathmatical skills, focus patience to, as usual, make it to the final table win it all.
The problem is going about finding a sponsor that will take the risk of investing the $1500 for the earlier tournaments (3 of them) /or $10,000 for the Main Event for a cut of the winning cash prize, should one be earned. I have full confidence that my husband would earn a cash prize. I believe that if he had a chance to go to the tournament he would be able to dramatically change our lifestyle lives.
Does anyone know a person who is looking to invest like this or how to go about finding one? Thanks

I’m talking about money management.

I play a Texas Hold’em home game about once a week. I spend about $5 per tournament and usually expect to lose about $20 in a night. But ocassionally I will go to Atlantic City to play in a big tournament for more money.

My question is, specifically what is the best way to keep records of what I spend and how to manage my bankroll (simplistically).

I win and lose about evenly, but over the long run in Poker luck will even out and by keeping good records I will be able to tell whether or not I am a good player.

Also, how can I use my records to mathematically figure out how much I earn per hour at Poker, if I chose to make a job out of it?

A Poker Tournament Strategy to Use for Beginning of the Tournament

During the early stages, you’ll need to build up your stack and establish a solid position. You can’t afford risky plays in this stage. Instead, put on a mask of patience. Use this opportunity to get a feel of your opponents’ plays. Keep your eyes open and watch every move they make – this will pay off during the later stages.

Don’t allow yourself to make big moves – even when your card looks good. Wait out on your opponents’ plays and make the most of what’s on the table. Be careful not to give your moves away.

A Poker Tournament Strategy For the Middle Stages

Midway through the tournament is when you have to start playing aggressively. Don’t wait for your stack to whittle down into a few lousy pieces. Most players tend to keep a tight approach during this stage. Why not cash in on your opponents’ hesitations?

But this is not always the case, so it’s important that you read their plays before you start raising the stakes. If your opponents start to loosen up at this point, you’ll have to keep your risks to a minimum by playing more conservatively.

Now if you were vigilant in watching your opponents’ actions in the early stages, the game will be easier to manipulate. Use your observations to your advantage. Knowing who calls a lot, who you can bluff, and whom you need to keep an eye on will determine the amount you will have for the next round.

If you’ve managed to battle it out near the end with a small stack, you’ll have to take more risks. Play as aggressively as your cards allow – raise the stakes instead of just calling. You cannot let your opponents bully you around; otherwise, the little that you have on your stack will go down the drain.

But then again, you have nothing to lose. If you think you know your opponents’ plays well enough, you’ll have a good chance at getting back in the game. If you believe you can lure other players into betting when you have a strong hand, the poker tournament strategy of slow playing might just work. And when it does, you’ll win big.

When you’ve got a medium or a big stack and the game’s nearing its end, play conservatively, if not passively. When you’re opponents start getting knocked up, pick up the pace of the game and dominate the table. Keep a close watch on players with as much stack as you while you go up against those with smaller stacks. Steal as much pot as you can and keep a hold of your position.

On poker palace i won one of the new tournaments and i came first. It said that the prize was 20,000 chips but i haven’t gotten them yet??!!

My 45 year old mother recently had her leg amputated due to cancer and the bills are beginning to pile up so we are throwing a benefit party. We have a venue and date but now what? How do I get people to donate items for the raffle? What are some other ideas for raising money? I was thinking poker tournament, and winner splits the pot?

I am an Intermediate skilled Online Poker player.
I play at FullTiltPoker and Pokerstars.com
I usually play 9 or 10 player SitNGos and 90% of the time
I cash in 1st or 3rd place. I play $5 and $10 tournaments.
I would like to know if you believe I can win a big tournament?
There are so many satellite tournaments that if I could just win one tournament I could get entry to a big tournament where even if I were to lose in 100th place I could make thousands.
It seems like everytime I play in these tournaments I am using my standard SITNGO strategy and playing very Tight Aggressive but I always end up losing in 20th place out of 1000 entries. I can’t ever get to 1st thru 3rd place where the entry tickets are given out.
Do you believe I can win?

Poker in an online casino doesn’t have to be an intimidating, awkward, or uncomfortable experience. In fact, they are often less intimidating than playing in a Vegas land casino. There is no pressure of the people sitting at the poker table. There is however, a little bit of pressure having to play against a computer clock. This is, by far, the most important rule. No one should worry how others view them. In the end, it doesn’t matter. In fact, if someone’s goal is to win money and have fun, then it would be great if they could fake the image of a new player even if they are an experienced pro. It is sneaky, but almost guaranteed. Experienced players tend to play more softly, less aggressively, and less competitively against a new online poker player.

The poker player should always act in turn. This is easy to do. The online poker player needs to simply pay attention to where the action is and make sure to bet when it is their turn to do so. Most online poker players can’t stand someone who takes forever because they’re distracted; or even worse, someone who bets too soon. It is suggested that a couple of seconds are taken before someone acts just to make sure that they are, in fact, acting in turn. Also, a pause before they act will get a beginning online poker player in the habit of thinking about what they’re going to and why they are doing it.

One of the most important things to do before playing poker online is to find out as much as possible about the poker room before sitting down. There is no rule that says someone has to sit down in a poker game as soon as they arrive in a poker room. Yet that’s exactly what new online poker players routinely do. There is no question that someone will be eager to play online poker for the first time. But it is not something that a person would want to follow their instincts on. The poker player should take a while to look around when they arrive in a poker room. It might even benefit the poker player to spend the first visit to a poker room not even playing poker. It is just more beneficial to have a better knowledge of the types of online casinos and poker rooms so that the playing time can be more comfortable.

For the first couple of poker games, the player should think about playing in a poker game and take many breaks. The tempo of online poker tends to be much faster. Players make their decisions more quickly and there’s a lot less conversation, eating, or general time-wasting than in other casino games. But the benefits of online poker allow someone to come and go as they please, should they have a couple of bad poker hands.

How much would a tournament director charge a bar to set up a poker game! Thinking of starting a free poker league in a small bar in town!

can someone please tell me a list of poker sites for US players that offer free roll tournaments, and have you heard of a site called duplicated poker or play on it? I need all the feed back and all your info. thank you very much in advance

Tip 5: Be flexible yet on guard. As a poker player, whether online or offline, it is important to know when you should take on a certain attitude. You must know when to play tight and when to be aggressive. You should be able to read other player’s moves (and so psychology matters!), position and tournament structure.

Tip 6: Study offline and online poker tournament moves made by opponents or other players. This is one trick many poker champions get. The more you watch and the more you play, the more you learn at poker. After getting a few lessons, try them out and test which one works best in different situations.
